if you were in the market for an AR-15 type rifle/carbine would you consider a SIG 556 today???...

I used to have a SIG 556 but sold it off some time back because I didn't shoot it but today I am thinking everyman should own something AR-15 like...so before I go on the search for the AR-15 for home defense or just to have in these troubling times would consider the SIG 556 if you had one available for a similar price???

thoughts and experience are requested please ;)

I would definitely would buy my SIG556P and make it a SBR all over again.
Not so with the 16” versions that I’ve had before, too front heavy for my taste.

If you're considering a rifle purchase in a purely practical context, I don't think the AR15 can be beat.

For the money ($950 or so) I can’t find anything I like more than a Sig 556 pistol. That said, if I could find one at $1,300 I would buy a Bren 2 pistol because it’s so much lighter. A PSA or smith and Wesson AR at $499 (in non-panic times) is also a good value.

if only this were no panic times...that's what's killing me...remembering how many times I didn't buy an S&W or Ruger at $499 in those times...

the buddy who I sold the rifle and accessories to just hit me up and asked if I wanted to get it back...tough times but I may go the amount I sold to him for since he hasn't shot it...

Is silver sport a car reference by chance?

The $499 ARs will come back post-COVID if Biden doesn’t start talking gun control.

when I joined my first Forum in 2001 I was buying a silver Corvette...I came up with that name to cover the color and the car and have just used it on every Forum I join since...

thanks for the replies and feedback...I may be getting my SIGArms 556 back...my buddy never got around to shooting it and selling it may get him some peace and quiet at home...

The gun I really want is the Bren 2 because it’s got all the features I want but it’s a lb or so lighter than a lot of other non-AR piston guns. But when I see $1,500 price tags, I buy “$950” P556’s then proceed to add $500 in parts (hand guards $70, hand guard retainers $95, KNS pin $25, enhanced trigger guards $10, pistol grips $45, pic adapter plugs $90?, used PWS muzzle brake $35, CNC Warrior brace $186). Doh!

don't we all do that???...save money and then after adding everything to make it mine it would have been less expensive to get it that way in the beginning...o_O

I need to replace my telescoping stock as it still has the original but mine has the 550 hand guards, Aurora diopter sights and a Aimpoint CompM4...thinking of going with a Magpie CTR

Ullie was my guide back when this Forum was new and I first bought the 556...I miss that guy

thanks for all your help too Accomplice
