I've just cut a half dozen checks to the state and fed for my quarterly taxes. Which quickly undid any gains made in August's budget.
The company I run has been able to pick-up a number of Federal, State and city contracts that have help replaced the lose of our normal "retail" clients with the current downturn.
So I see the pain and the hit that taxes can be on the budget. (Healthcare is a huge hit, too...) but I also had to hire a few kids right out of sandbox to help with projects that we have going on ("recovery" related).
Granted, I know these kids are planning on heading "home" (the mainland) at some point once they feel settled, but I can use the extra hands and they are always willing to put in full days efforts, unlike some of the local guys. This all thanks to our taxes dollars. I also know that these government contracts are only short lived projects for me.
So I ask, honestly, why do folks on this board hate the idea of higher taxes. I just want to know...
