Gents, what are the sling options for my new Classic? I am not at home so please dont tell me to just go look.
From the pics my wife has sent me there appears to be a loop on the front end and a loop on/in the stock.
Is there something in between? Is there a sling adapter that can be added?
I have seen different Sigs on here with sling loops at the base of the folding stock is this just on certain models or is it an add on?
Any input would be appreciated.

I have a Classic and the sling I have on it is an Specter three points with a hook in the front attachment. It works great and is very comfortable, I got it here in the forum from another member. I like more than the single point MAGPUL MS2â„¢ SLING that I have in my other SIG.

i think you're asking if there's a mounting point other than.. the one on the gas-block.. and the two in the folding-stock....?

if so, no there isn't...

Troy makes a mounting point that clamps to the optics rail..

there's a diopter sight that has a mounting point attached to it. i thought ColoradoGuns carried them.. but, i can't find them on their site.

and i've seen pics of 556CLASSICs with what looks like a large eye-bolt going through the folding stock mount, just above the hidge.. but, i don't know where to get those.

i hope that helps.

Yes that is what I mean. Where is the second on/in the stock? I see the loop in the rear of the stock is there another?

Tacman,

It sounds like you have the older stock. The first generation stocks have only an eyehole at the bottom inside corner. It may also be a Swiss made stock that many claim to be superior to the newer ones. The second generation Sig Sauer stocks have the eyehole and a 1 to 1 1/2 inch slot in front of the butt plate. The Sig website shows the gen 2 stocks on the patrol rifle for reference.

Mine came with that, so it's likely a SIG part (and as we know, they don't advertise parts for sale well or at all. My Classic's owner manual did not depict a classic, so the parts listing is no help.)

On mine, I took the Harris bipod adapter for AR15, without the large plate, screwed it into one of the existing holes in the bottom handguard, and put a nut and washer in the space for it. I can now attach the bipod or a Mike style detachable sling swivel:

As for the rear, I put my web belt sling through the slot in the stock.

You want a single-point or two-point setup? One option to consider - Blackhawk makes a heavy duty ballistic nylon loop that attaches via cinch strap holddowns, and velcro for the tag end, along with a really heavy gauge Delta ring, for only $6.99. I use it to attach a single point sling to hang the gun barrel down. I have used the Condor Cobra single point sling (alligator claw version) that only costs $30.00 - a lot of the Army soldiers being trained nearby where I work use these and showed them to me -- I bought three of them, since then. They're really good slings.

The Blackhawk universal sling adaptor really works well on numerous weapons & stock types, from shotguns to M4s/M16s to traditional rifle stocks. You cannot use it near heat (unless you like smelling melting nylon) but if you're rolling with a single point sling, barrel down, it is very well made, easy to use and really works great!

Here's a link to aid you in your search and limited Internet time windows:

Thanks for the link and the advice. Also noticed in the pics of mine that it does not have the holes in the handguards to mount the rail kit. Will have to get my wife to take some more detailed pics.
Is there a source for SIG slings?

A search turned up a bunch of links for virtually every type of sling mentioned here, but also this:

This is the site:

I don't have a classic, but from all the images I've seen, aren't there rings on either side of the receiver much like the 522? Or is that some 'optional component"? I've got a magpul asap on order since I'd like something attached to the receiver and not the stock (since you never know when you'll be hanging down an elevator shaft by the sling...).

That is what I am looking for. Looking at the sites now while internet is good. Thank you so much for finding this for me.
How do you like the DD offset?

Personally I like the offset DD. It sits far enough over that it doesn't interfere with the sights. With the stock folded it gives you a good sling point thats lets the rifle tip slightly forward. The only issue I could see is it could potentially block the sights over the top if you transition to the left, however I think that its would be an easy fix to move it back over and if you didnt have the time your probably not worried about proper sight picture anyways. Just my 2 cents.

556 Sling

Guys, I've learned that the stock design changed about 6-months ago and as a result the spacer has been eliminated. Therefore you can't use a modified spacer with a sling mount point.

Sig Sauer is still shipping with outdated documentation, the parts list is not correct for the newer version.

KNS Precision (Texas) is aware of these changes and working on a solution, prototype due soon. Suggest calling them to show interest and perhaps influence the market availability date.

The KNS setup looks good. That would prevent the rear pin from walking out if that is a problem. Will have to look at that one to.
As always great solutions and nice looking rigs guys.

I use the Gear Sector GS 2P sling with the HK Snap Hook adapter (additional cost) on the front and the standard Auxiliary adapter (that comes with the sling) on the back. I use the same set up for my Sig HOLO.

The best feature is the Rip-cord allowing you to make quick hang adjustments on the fly.
