Well I took the 522 out to the range for her 3rd trip since my buddy was interested in getting the s&w m&p 22(airsoft imo), and of course i was gonna try to talk him out of it! We probably put 200 rounds through it b4 I got my first FTF after approx. 700 rounds or so. Removed the round and then cycled the charging handle, then reinserted the unfired round and bang... but the charging handle didn't slide all the way back. The action felt a little sluggish so I peered inside the chamber area and realized something was wrong. The recoil spring guide was showing more than usual, so I opened her up. Somehow, 1 of the 2 e-clips came loose which caused the recoil spring to get damaged, so here I am trying to figure out which pieces I have and which ones were missing from the guts. Was a little disappointed since it was just my 3rd trip shooting her, so then a call to sig.

Told the cs rep the issue, and he said he knew exactly what I was talking about. There was some kinda tolerance issue with the early 522 buffers not being machined enough, where the spring guide goes into the buffer, so I guess they had a few go back, and he admitted it was a known issue. He said he'd get me a prepaid label and they'd fix it, but I asked if there was a way he could just send me the parts I needed to fix it myself, since it would save them time and money, and my time also. He agreed, and said that he'd finagle the parts from the developer for me, b/c parts aren't readily available since this new toy is backordered over 10,000 units!

A few days later, I received a handwritten note from the cs rep, the new revised buffer, 2 e-clips, recoil spring, and a sig sticker. How awesome is that?!!! Been to the range a few times since then, and have probably put another 400 rds through her with no FTFs, FTEs, or any other problem at all! I'll keep my eye on it the next few trips just in case, but pretty sure she's good to go! For the fellow 522 owners or soon to be owners, I love my 522 and glad I got it over any other ar-22 models that have come out recently. To me, most feel like airsoft or already suffer from issues from what i've read... My sn # is XA0020xx if that helps anyone.

Even though I've had 2 issues with my new sigs, they were taken care of very quickly, and the way I wanted it to be done. I have loved and been loyal to Sig and their products for quite some time now, and I can't vouch for everyone, but they have always taken care of me for any problem. Figured I'd take advantage of the rebate and finally get my rifle, the long lost big bro. Looked around and finally found a steal and just picked it up from my FFL a few days ago! Decided on the 556 ER (SN JT0038xx hope it's a good one) to save $ and add what accessories i wanted on it instead of paying for stuff i didn't want. Came with a revised, straight charging handle which is totally kickass (thought I was gonna have to buy 2 charging handles), the hooded front and popsicle rear, and 6 pos. m4 stock. Still haven't sent off form1 for my p556, so the parts from the sbr build (the grip & stock are not on the p556)- comp m4s, caa vertical grip, & an ace socom m4s (when I acquire a castle nut tool) were put on the newest family member so I could break her in 200 rds today!

I never got to shoot any of the 556 rifles until today, and was I ever impressed! She shot better than I thought she would. 200 rds with PMC & no FTE, FTF, or any other problem at all! F'in sweet!!! Makes me wanna sell a kidney and buy another one, or two! The range I go to is limited in distance, so I sighted her in at 50 yds 1" low. After sighting in, she shot like a dream! Great groups! Can't wait to go shoot her again :D

I'll post some pics in the photoshop section...

Now for some advice...

What brands do you guys recommend or not recommend for a quad rail for the 556?

Good sling for my P556? And the 556?

Will get some BUIS for both 556s after more research and struggle, so will probably get rid of the 2 hooded fronts

What kind of suppressor have you guys used on the 556s? Looking at getting a SWR Spectre (approved for full auto 22lr or semi auto 5.7mm, 17HMR, & 22WMR) to use on the 522, the skeeter, and wishfully the P556 and 556... I know they don't recommend .223 out of it, but it is multi-caliber and has been done before, but I probably won't anyways. Just wishful thinking ... Would love to buy just 1 suppressor to go on the majority of my toys if possible, but not likely.

And much thanks to everyone... there is much to learn and be learned from this forum...

and thanks again ullie for the advice on the aimpoint comp m4s... would be tossin' and turnin' at night if i got the eotech 557 instead

...i would go with either a Troy or Samson quad rail...but only if you "absolutely" intend to mount something like a foregrip...otherwise...i would go with a set of "Swiss" 551 handguards...to lighten up the front end...you can still mount a small white light on the Swiss handguards if needed...

...i would go with a "good quality" 2 point sling...keeping it simple...

...i would go with an Samson Sig specific folding front and an ARMS 40L-SP rear...Troy industries also makes a nice folding rear battlesight...OR...if you intend to use your irons for more than backups...i recomend an Aurora set...an Aurora front and an Aurora diopter rear...

...lot's of good suppressors out there...but you need to do your homework...if you plan to shoot 22LR through one...get one dedicated for that cartrage...22LR is filthy...and shouldn't be shot through a suppressor designed for 5.56...also...never shoot 5.56 through a suppressor designed for 22LR...not a good thing to do ! ...you'll destroy the can and possibly injure yourself and others...

...unfortunately suppressors have entered the "horsepower race...and a lot of published figures are meaningless and misleading...it's extreamely difficult to compare suppressors based on these figures...my recomendation is to stay with the established leaders in the industry...such as Advanced Armament Corp. AAC...AWC Systems... Gemtech ...there are a few others...

...a suppressor for the 5.56 should be all stainless steel at a minimum with specially alloyed and hardened blast baffles...or baffles made from inconel...to withstand the hot...high pressure erosive gases...to be able to partially disassemble any suppressor for cleaning is a big plus... and they do need to be cleaned out from time to time...

...be sure to follow the suppressor manufacturer's suggestions / requirements regarding mounting solutions...some suppressor's tollerances and resulting clearances are very tightly held...the bore...mount and suppressor tunnel "must" therefore be concentric...more so with some that others...or you may get a bullet strike...

Thanks samnev and ullie for the advice. I do like the 551 handguards, but I definitely do like quad rails also, and the samson rail looks awesome! Don't really need a vert grip so probably will just go with the 551s. Could always get the samson rail later...

The sights recommended were the ones I was planning on getting until I read up on the lawsuit crap going on and some qc issues with ARMS, which sorta left a bad taste in my mouth (not to offend anyone). I basically was set on the Samson Sig specific front sight from recommendations from friends and from what I have read, and the samson f&r set is a decent deal. I also noticed that Troy came out with some new micro battlesights as a set. Has anyone gotten these yet, and if so, whatdya think? They look pretty nice and if applicable to the 556s, would probably be top choice of the two. I know the website says appl. for 556, but would rather hear some user feedback also on the micros. So the front will def be a samson specifc or front of the troy micro set, and for the rear a troy micro or reg. troy tritium doa, or samson. I'm sure I'll be pleased with all of them in any combo :D

The suppressor is really only for the .22 toys. Figured shouldn't shoot .223 out of .22, but thought .22 out of .223 would be kosher. Lemme know if I'm wrong ullie! Did too much research on suppressors to the point of brain mush. Cost really isn't an issue among the top choices, and just want to get the best available. Looked at yhm, tactical innovations, aac, gemtech, and a few others, but kept coming back to the spectre. From what I've read, and from some silencer reviews, the swr spectre basically lead all testing categories except one, ranging from 1st rd pop, 2nd rd & consecutive shots, dry, wet, etc etc, and seems like a good choice. Great materials, full disassembly, & lifetime warranty, some specs on the swr spectre

CALIBER: .22 thru 5.7mm (maybe 5.56? haha i wish)
OVERALL LENGTH: 6"
DIAMETER: 1"
WEIGHT: 8.5 Oz
MATERIAL: 17-4PH, 316 Stainless
AVAILABLE THREADS: 1/2"x28, 10mmx1
Rated for multiple calibers (.22lr through 5.7mm).
Can be fully disassembled for cleaning.
"Pusher" tool available to aid in disassembly.

The spectre will be .22 specific, so that will probably be the next toy on the list, and hopefully gonna send off my form 1 soon, so I'll get two random timed presents to myself! :D

Most def C Swimm! Only bout an hr away. Would def enjoy shooting sometime. If you got some land, can I shoot some apples, oranges, watermelons, soda cans, and water jugs? muhaha I've really been wanting to shoot some fruit lately! (for some odd reason lol)

SIG CS

If anyone needs a good cs rep I would try Mark Hanson. Truthfully answered all my ?s ranging from the P238 to the 522, and did everything possible to accommodate my requests for the issue with the 522. He went beyond what is normally the norm for cs, so much props to him!

Also, what kinda flash hider/compensators is every1 using? Sorta wanna change out the ever popular A2 ones...
