I was test fitting my SP2022 into a belly band holster and it is surprisingly concealable, but the magazine with 'pinky lip extension' protrudes noticeably. It has a rather large extension that sticks off the bottom of the magazine. Does anyone think I can get away with grinding off this extension? It would make the gun a little less comfy to shoot, but if it's concealed, it would be worth it, I think. Has anyone done this? It seems like there should be plenty of plastic left on the floorplate to do its job (maybe it wouldn't stand up to falling on the ground as well, but whatever).

Any advice appreciated.

I own three SIG SP2022 so I'm pretty familiar with this gun. I would have to say it could well depend on how large your hands are. Myself, personally I wouldn't modify it because I really need that lip on the mag to feel comfortable and holding the pistol without the mag in feels very uncontrollable to me. I would say shot some rounds without the magazine in, feeding them one at a time of course by hand into the gun, and see if you are able to shoot to your satisfaction and control the gun. If so you should be fine taking off material until you are satisfied and still be able to use the weapon properly.

...i would try calling someone like Top Gun Supply...or a Sig LEO supplier...and ask them if they make a "flat floorplate" for the P2022...or if another "flat floorplate" is compatable with the P2022 magazine...be sure to speak with someone "in the know" though...not just to anyone who answers the phone...

Interesting, great info. Does that mean the M&P mags work? Or just the floorplates are the same? I know I read somewhere that the SP2022 mags were based on one of the other Sig mags but I can't remember which one...

Thanks.

I know that several of the polycarbonite frame Sigs have some parts that are interchangeable. Try looking here for some better answers
