Sig mags...

I'm sure their is a post about this somewhere, but I couldn't find it.

Stay away from the Sig mags, I have three new ones and everytime I fire the rifle with them I get failure to feeds. Or it double feeds and a round gets smashed up.

It runs like a champ with the P mags, so far I havn't had any issues with them.

Anyone want to buy some Sig mags? I'll make you a deal.

Doesn't it just irk you that you pay a fortune for a SIG 556 and they get cheap on the mags? The $17 P-Mags are better quality that the $23 Sig mags. Even the old Thermolds are better mags. I wonder who produces them for SIG?
I've never had a problem with them in my older rifles; however you're not the only one to have these problems. There's an independent company that produces all of Sig's accessories (lights, mags, grips and such), but as far as I can tell all of their stuff is kinda shoddy. I have 6 Sig mags and they all work fine, but they're older so maybe there's something up with the newer stuff coming out of their manufacturer?

God I can't remember the company for the life of me tho D:
There you go. I've never had a problem with them like I say, but I don't think they'd hold up well to a fight. I just have them because they have couplers.
Mine sucked really bad. Second round and about half the remaining ones misfed. Complete junk. The Lancers are tough, look the sex and feed well, however, if you slam them home on a retracted bolt, the top round pops out! Workable, I kept em. The PMAGs lived up to the hype. ZERO trouble with them.
i've been pretty lucky, I have 7 Sig mags and so far, they all work great.

EDIT: I take back the above statement. All the mags are starting to fail and it's only been about 2k rounds... :(
Hmmm, I run the cheapiest, dirtiest surplus orlites from the 80's and my sig 556 has yet to stumble. With the robust feeding and extraction of the Sig 556, it makes AR feeding pale in comparison.

My cheap orlites will not work in any AR I've tried them in, half the time they won't even seat.

My Sig 556 has yet to run into a bad magazine.
Thanks for the offer hattaresguy but I have enough targets for now. I have one Sig mag and it works with the 55gr round with no problem. I was lucky I guess.

I still have the one that came with my 556. The first time I shot it I took three mags with me to check reliability: Sig (iTac) Magazine; PMag; old, beater milspec aluminum mag with MagPul follower.

The Sig mag performed the worst. I had read that on the net before buying the rifle. People either had no problems or tons of them with the magazine. That was the only time I have ever used it and it stays in my old catch-all crate for gun stuff. I have also started to by Lancer L5 magazines and they run flawlessly and I find them the most aesthetically pleasing of my magazines.
I have four of them, the original ones that came with my rifles new.

I use them only when target practicing because I do not trust them for reliable use under hunting conditions.

I have not had any trouble with them for target practice, they just look way too flimsy for any real use.

+1 I've never had a problem with them, but due to all the stories on hear I never use them when it counts.
I bought 4 sig mags, but I bought them for my .459 bushmaster. They are the best mag going for .450, better than the supplied bushmaster .450 mag. I run pmags in my sig.

I may buy a few more sig mags for my .450.
MY Sig 556 mag quit feeeding reliably after about 200 rounds. Now I run P Mags and use the SIG mag to do a quick check to see if my hand loads will fit in the mag and are not to long. Otherwise worthless.
My Sig magazine is relegated to non-important range practice and plinking only. The first round usually catches the front face of the magazine. It only happens on the first round when loaded with 30 rounds and the following 29 feed without problem. Every other magazine I've tried has worked without fail.
