Sig 556 charging handle

Anyone ever thought about making a nice charging handle for the sig 556? Or even know where or who to contact to have one made? I know there was a few companies out there making them but they just completely stopped! I wouldn’t mind having one custom made obit not sure who or where to start to make one? Just a thought. I see more and more people now bringing the sig platform back up more then ever.

It would be relatively easy to make one, its just a bent piece of metal, you could make it in your garage.
Minus making sure the section that keys into the bolt is shaped and fitted nicely, yeah you could make anything you wanted. I've been playing with it off and on myself. It's modeled and did some 3D print test fits, just need the time to make one at the shop.

I cannot stress how important it is to exactly machine the portion that interfaces with the carrier. If it's too loose a fit, the reciprocating action will chew up and oval egg your carrier where it meets up with the charging handle.

This is why I havent attempted it.. yet. Need to really take the time and make some prototype's to check fitment. Final version would be from 17-4.. then heat treated.
It's on the list of many projects I'd like to do at work.

Here's my printable designs, cheapest thing you can do. Just pull the rubber off your OEM handle and slip one of these on with a little silicon glue.

Nice and simple. I like it. Are you using ABS for the prints?

I want to make an entirely new handle, that's angled down a bit away from the rail, but that's just personal preference.
My designs do angle down for optics, I usually print in Polymaker PLA pro or Priline PC-CF. I've tested around 200 filaments are those 2 are the strongest "best value" filaments. Polymaker PC-FR is a hair stronger than the PC-CF though, and Taulman CF nylon is a little stronger than that.

Do u sell these? Or would u consider selling them occasionally? If so, I'm def interested in having one made if u have a little side hustle going. Idk much about 3d printing, do u print these yourself? Or did u just design em & then have someone else print em? Do u think OD Green could be an option to match Swiss furniture? I'm really interested
Been thinking about printing a big batch of them and selling on ebay. I have sold one to a guy on here already, for now you can DM me. $20 shipped to the lower 48, I'll take BTC, paypal, and money order. I have 3 types, textured hard plastic, textured semi-hard flexible rubber, and soft rubber. Hard plastic I can do in any color I have on hand for the same price, and I do have some OD green, or $30 for any color you want. The rubber ones are limited to black or white. Hell I could even do woodgrain if you want. Printing is awesome there are so many different materials to choose from.
Also, I want to make it clear this is just a charging handle cover, it slides over your steel charging handle.
I was under the impression that the rubber cocking handle cover is a press fit, does not require epoxy.
That's true, because mine are hard plastic they need glue.
