Asked in another section never got any comments. Just curios what anyone thought about having 556 barrel turned down and wrapped in carbon fiber, by one of the top Co. that does it, to help lower some of the weight in the front as well as other benefit's from this custom type barrel work. Comments on this subject appreciated, pros, cons

Never heard of wrapping a barrel in carbon fiber, whats that supposed to do, increase barrel stiffness, reducing barrel flex during fireing to improve accuracy?

I'd say shoot the thing and test it out first. I dont think my 16" barell has any problems with barell whip.

these are common on .920 bull barrels for the 10/22. It's done to add stiffness.....a composite design will flex less than a solid one. I bought a composite barrel for my wife's 10/22....it's a steel core with an aluminum one permanently bonded over top:
