Hello Folks, happy to have found this site. Have a Sig 556 Classic which I bought in 2009. It came as a RedDot Version to which I quickly added the nice rotary Diopter Peep Sight. Well to this day I have yet to shoot it....sorry but I have a renewed interest in taking it from its other friends who live in my Man Cave and that spot in the safe I call the "Island of Yet to Be Shoot Toys". But as I was looking yesterday for a replacement Forend...and I found this site and the concerns folks are expressing over some of the various Dated Models of the 556. Looking at mine it appears from looking it over thoroughly the fit and finish are excellent, the Receiver Mounted Rail is laser Flat and Straight. I think I have a low number JT series. Made in May of 2009 the number is JT0008XX. It was the last of four rifles that were on an in store Display at one of my favorite dealers. I assume from the low serial number which is a JT and under 900 in the low 800's. (8XX) So come as a Sig Fan have a Sig P290RS SS Laser and had a 516. A friend wanted more then I and I sold it, as with all sold guns I have sellers remorse but as long as he's happy I'm happy. OK, please anyone I welcome any insights into the Sig Classic 556 Serial JT00008XX, 3-Pos Adjustable Folding Stock, Plastic Forend. And never fired a shot. I'm at the point of either putting it into the regular shooting rotation or selling it. As I said it appears to be a very nice rifle, no obvious Fit/Finish/Function flaws...but what else should I look at? Thank All!
