Hello all--first post here. I'm from Minneapolis. Nice forum--looking forward to using them often. The 556 will be my first carbine. It should be here next week with any luck at all.

NavyChief--

I'm in Brooklyn Park actually--are you in a burb or downtown? Do you have a favorite outdoor range in the area? I haven't found much in the way of Sportsman's clubs around here.

I got my first rifle in 6th grade. I've had a love afair with guns since. I have a hefty accumulation, including six AR type rifles, three HK Rifles, six FAL type rifles, two AK type rifles, five M1a rifles, twentyfive M1 rifles, many more rifles and pistols. My SIG accumlation is a 220, 228 and 556.

Though I love guns, I just do not get to shoot as much as I want too. :(

I am happy to have a 556 because it is a great rifle and soooo many AR owners hate it! 8)

I got mine in June of this year. Serial # 3XXX. It came with the SIG forend pistol grip/flashlight (which I initially thought was unnecessary, but now feel is integral to the gun). The only thing I added was a Trijicon TA31F (4x32). I have also gotten a couple more NHMTG mags identical to the one that came with the rifle. Usually shoot at 100m. No problems of any kind. Such a beautiful machine!

I have coveted the rifles from SIG since I was very young and saw them in the first edition of Ian Hogg's Military Small Arms of the Twentieth Century. Then, back in '89 during a visit to Switzerland I spent a weekend in an alpine village where they were having a Schiessfest (=shooting competition). The sound was deafening all Saturday & Sunday, and it was with great envy that I watched the competitors pull up in their Volvos and haul these sweet rifles out of their trunks. The people I was staying with in the village groaned at the racket, but I secretly exulted in the roar of rifle fire and wished more than anything to head up the hill and take my turn on the line.

Well, finally, eighteen years later, I finally have my own SIG rifle to haul out of the trunk of my car.

Hope to learn a lot here,
SpikeHead

I'm Jeff from a place that rhymes with Las Vegas. I recently bought a 556 because I like the piston operation and dont like mopping up carbon. I'll have a ton of noob questions regarding the ammo and optics. Glad to be here.

Hey there, Iv'e been lurking on here for awhile thought I'd sign up and spout off. Got a new 556 about a month ago. Really enjoy it. Got one with pop up front sight and feeler gauge thin rear sight. What a joke. Tossed the front sight and went with the Sammson. Got a A.R.M.S. 40-LP on order for the rear. For optics went with Aimpoint comp m4 with the 3x magnifier. Sighted in at 50m for grouping with 55gr wolf, no surprise there. 100, 200 and 300m range okay for combat use but groupings of course were wider because of the 1/7 twist. When the price gets right I'll go for the heavier slug. Always wanted a SIG, but was partial to Colt and HK. I'd post a couple of images, but this sight won't allow it for my format.

Hi, I have been lurking around here for a while looking for information on Sig 556. I finally order one last week. As most other members here, I own a few ARs and AK style rifles. I have always a fan of Sig for it legendary pistol, got a few of those as well. Hopefully the Sig556 will be as good as any other Sig products.
