I've seen people mention the date their gun was built but my case does not have any date listed on the outside. It had 2 stickers, one that said: SIG556302 and listed the specs of the rifle and a second sticker with the serial number (JT0081XX). Is there anyway to determine the manufacture date if it isn't on the case?

...i suppose you could call Sig...i wouldn't be too concerned about knowing the exact manufacturing date...why has this become so important ?...

It's important because the quality issues are probably due to a few folks hired during the production ramp up and when they were found not to be doing their jobs properly they were probably let go or retrained. Therefore if you know the date of the build, most of the "problem guns" may fall within a certain date range that most folks would prefer to avoid when buying, myself included.

To know when to bake the birthday cake!

Zeus does have a good point, although after the sale, it's kind of moot except for the cake.
