Just today I discovered that the charging handle for a Beretta AR70/90 could very easily be made to work in a SIG 556. The tang extends a little too far through the bolt, but that’s an easy fix. Otherwise it fits really well.
If you don’t find anything else that might help.

Cool thanks! What did you do to make it work?

I just put it in the bolt to make sure that it fit. It fits very slightly tighter that the factory charging handle. As I mentioned above the tang is slightly longer than the original SIG part, so you would need to grind it shorter or it will strike the inside of the receiver, but that’s easy. I was really surprised at how nearly identical the cross sections of the tang were and how the notches used to lock the handle in place were.
I didn’t shorten mine because I have my original SIG charging handle. I was just comparing parts from a parts kit that I bought. Apex has some individual parts. They may be able to find one for you.
