Hello all.

Basic background info on myself:

My user name, "PartTimePork" is relevant because I am a Reserve County Police Officer in my home county.

I am mid 50s age wise. No military experience. Been a Reserve Officer for about 7 or 8 years now. I bought my SIG-556 ER to use as a patrol rifle. Got it before the end of the year (2009) and took advantage of Sig's rebate for LEOs. That got me a $100 bucks off the already dirt cheap sale price. The owner of the gun store is also a Reserve here so maybe I got a discount because of that. I walked in the store fully expecting to buy a Colt or S&W AR 15 type gun, but could not pass up the deal I got on my Sig. Got about 400 rounds plinking through it as of today....I LOVE THIS GUN!!!! It is heavy. Very heavy. But it is reliable and it is "pretty". Matches my Glock 23 duty weapon.

I have started collecting all the goodies you just have to have for a gun like this. Magpul magazines. And I just picked up a lightly used TROY Battle Rail setup for $100. (There goes my rebate!) Not installed yet as it is missing some screws. (I emailed the guys at Troy and they are getting me the screws and install manual. Good people to work with.)

Slapped on an "el Cheap-Oâ€

Can't see the pics right now(blocked at work) but just wanted to let you know someone on the forums has a DMS for sale. I just got one and love it but don't expect the red dot to show up in the bright light, only low light. Still the reticle is excellent. :)

Thanks all for the warm welcome. For those of you that tipped me off to the Millett DMS-1, thanks again. His price is just about full retail for a new scope, but he is including a mount of some kind. I have been trying find info (how high? brand name? value? etc?) on his mount, but I keep getting sidetracked by "work related" stuff!!! I'll try at the end of the day. My "issue" with buying a used scope at anywhere near the reg price is what happens if a defect develops? Is there a warranty for the second owner? But it can't hurt to make an offer if the mount is something I can use.

A funny/true story to start off your weekend: ;-{)

We had a training class last night, mostly about the proper way to take down and clean / lube our sidearms and our 870 shotguns. But at the end of the class we had some "weapon retention" training. You know, how to keep the bad guy from getting your weapon during a struggle. I am starting to get some arthritis in my hands and fingers and SWEET MOTHER OF GOD, MY HANDS HURT SO BAD TODAY, I CAN HARDLY TYPE! As much as I hate to admit it, I may be getting too old to do this Part Time Policing. Then I think about our leader Major B, who flew a glider into Normandy on D-Day. So you figure how old he is!!! I guess I better just suck it up and quit complaining.
