Mine came with the fishgill handguards, which were swapped out for the swiss style.
Time goes by and things change....most of the time. Long story short is the 556s now get more use, so I've been setting them up how I like them.
What are my wants? Flashlight and vertical grip on stock. Shooting the 556 with the off hand way up front, for me, I grab the gas block. That can lead hot hand syndrome. The swiss style stock rises up on the bottom, so no vertical grip there unless I make some sort of angled mount for it. I can live w/o the gun light, but not the grip.
The fishgills bring the 556 back to looking like a tank instead of the more sleek style. The vertical grip also helps balance the rifle and pull it back into my shoulder.

and just think, I was going to sell those gills

I have two sets and have always as new preferred and advocated the Fish Gill variant as being functionally superior.

People have been so focused on aesthetics. When IMHO clearly the Fish Gill are an obvious advantage, IF the gun is actually used and run hard.

Never sell your gills.
