Well, just bought one, Sig 556 SWAT. Kinda neat rifle! Have some questions about it. First, mine does not have a raised area around the magazine release button on the receiver. I see others in pictures that have it. Mine is similar to early Colts, SP-1. Why is this different? Early year for the Sig?

Congrats on the stick. Not that much of an expert more of an enthusiast regarding the Sig 556. I am not clear on which Gen it is based on the lower.
Anyway that sounds like the full length swat it’s a desirable rifle. Specially if it has the Swiss filing stock.
