Hi:
I brought home my brand new SIG556006 on March 11 after the waiting period. I stripped down the rifle per Ullie's post. I found that the head bolt has excessive wear and the fire pin stud stuck. The bolt carrier is fine. I realize few members have this stud frozen. In addition, the fire pin seems restricted, it does not move freely. I would not dare to further field strip the fire pin because it will be warranty issue. I will contact SIG Customer Service Monday. My firearm dealer stated that he received the rifle from a sealed box. He installed the bullet button to meet CA compliance. Here are some pictures:

I am curious about this "button". What is it and where is it installed?
The button is a replacement for the standard push-button mag release button. In CA, in order to not be considered an assault rifle, a rifle must not be able to accept magazines without the use of a tool. The button tool uses another tool (in most cases an ammo round, that has been cleared to be an adequate tool) to release the magazine.
