EOTech Lens Covers?

I've seen some photographs of EOTechs with flip-up lens covers.

Are these an aftermarket accessory?

I would like to hear from anyone who has (or had) these on an EOTech.

Where can I get them and are they difficult to install?

Are they worth it? I certainly don't want some stray something or another to scratch or impact one of the lenses.

EOTech Flip Up Covers

I have an EOTech 512 on my 556 SWAT and have been thinking of getting the covers as well. They are available from GG&G. Can't say if they would be easy to install but many others have them on their HWS so it can't be too hard. Here is the url for GG&G;

Good luck to you.....

I feel that they are worth it. Keeps dust and fingerprints off the lense.

They are a snap to install. In a matter of minutes, they are ready to go.

Word of warning. Get the true GG&G covers. Stay away from the cheap knock-offs. You really do get what you pay for.
Sweet rig emalaret!

Looking through my EOTech owner's manual, I saw this on page 2 under the 'HOOD' section...

CAUTION- Tampering of Hood lock screws will void warranty.

So, it appears that mounting one of these lens protecting covers voids the warranty on the sight.

I've had two warranty returns on one of our 556's, and would have been up that particular creek if I had been required to pay for the repairs/corrections. I'd hate to have something go wrong with one of the EOTechs and not be able to have warranty work done because I "tampered" with the holy hood screws.

Any ideas?
I spoke with EoTech about that and they said that installing these covers would not void the warranty. As a matter of fact, they've worked on many sights with these covers and all work was coverd.

Fantastic company they are!

Good to hear!
I go the GG&G cover for my Eotech 512 right when I purchased the Holo sight. They are expensive but I believe worth it to keep the rain, dust, dirt, etc. off the lens. Normally I keep the covers closed at all times except when I am going to fire the rifle.

Like this morning, I took about a two mile hike around my property looking for hog sign. I turned the Eotech on and closed the covers since I was moving slowly through dense underbrush with the sling over my shoulder and the rifle to my side. Didn't see any hogs, so I kept the covers closed during the entire hike.

I did shave off the rear covers notch on one side (the notch you grip to open the cover) since it would catch on my clothes and open the cover. Just took a single edged razor blade and cut it off clean.

I like the covers.
I purchased them from MidwayUSA for $36.99. They are great to protect your expensive Eotech.
I have the GG&G flip down covers on my P556 on the 511.D1 - I really like them and they do keep the optic's glass and laminate lenses really clean. I installed them myself and it takes all of ten minutes to put the covers on. All you have to remove is the high-impact plastic hood over the lenses - it is no big deal to remove and replace. Wiggling the rubber cushion part of the cover is "a bit of a fiddle" as my British buddy likes to say, but just take your time and don't rush it, and it will come out just fine.

The new ones say "Front Towards Enemy" just like a Claymore mine. 8)

These will work with a magnifier but you need the "FTS" [flip to side] mount so you can get the magnifier out of the way to open the covers.

They're a little stiff when you first put them on, but leave them in place and they will mate with the hood just fine after awhile. They're worthy....
bought two pairs and installed them - they're really good.

Thanks for the feedback!!!
