I just want to see who has actually had a problem with the factory magazines? I dont care if your buddy had a problem or you read if someone did.

Did the Black plastic mag that has Sigarms at the bottom fail for you?

Early aluminum 30rd's disregard this post.

I didn't bother to even try it. I threw it a box of other misc junk I keep around. I prefer HK mags.

I'm pretty sure that if you dropped one of those crappy plastic things outside during a cold Minnesota winter, it would shatter into a million pieces on impact.

I have 3 factory Mags from Sig the one In the box with the rifle was fine. I puchased a 2 pack from academy 1 worked and one was a lemon I tried to fix it but it was just a lemon. returned them to academy got a new 2 pack and all is good. I guess one slipped through the QC dept and got into the marketplace.
But overall I'm Happy with SIG factory Mags

Shot with the factory mag 1 time, and got 2 double feeds and that was the last time it was EVER outside the closet. I figure when the "Obama Crime Bill" hits I can sell it for 100 bucks!

I did the same. The mag looked pretty pathetic. I have more than enough USGIs and PMAGs.

So I finally got to the range, I didn't even make it through 30 rounds. Within 13 rounds I had 4 FTF's and 1 jam where the tip jammed into the barrel while the bolt ran into the side of the casing. Are these mags really THAT bad?! Holy crap if your life depended on them. I've got 5 pmags on order and hopefully they'll make it here by the end of next week. So what kind of hassle am I looking at by contacting Sig to get a replacement...that works?

I purchased a March 09 build Sig556 and like many of you am also experiencing FTF every 1 out of 5 as well as double feeds. However im also experiencing my bolt not returning due to bind over the hammer so im in the process of returning my 556 to Sig.

I did end up ordering the PMAGs and hope this will alleviate the feed issue.

YES!! when the mag is fully loaded (30 rounds) about the first 10 rounds or so FTF. after that not so bad. problem almost completely goes away with regular AR mags. sent it back to sig and they replaced the recoil spring and said they fires 40 rounds with no problems... when i got it back, same problem!! unable to upload pic :(

My Factory mag has never had a problem but then I have never really put any stress on the thing. It is not exactly a no tilt unit. If I am putting more than 10 rounds in a mag it is usually not my factory mag, I am loading.

Mine works, but I think it is a piece of crap. My Pmags are far superior. GI mags are
better also.

The factory mag is comparable to airsoft quality, I would not depend on it. No way would
it operate in Wisconsin winter conditions. If I dropped it during winter in Wisconsin it
would smash into a TRILLION pieces, unlike a Minesotta winter where it would only smash
into a million pieces.... :p

I have never used a SIG or a Swiss mag---one big reason I bought this type rifle
was because it took M16/AR15 mags---of which there about a BILLION and they seem
to all work! Pete
