Here is mine: I removed the front sight (haven't figured out yet what I want to do). I was going to do Samson handgaurds, but after SHOT found out that SIG is doing shortened 551 handgaurd, so going to try to get that,
4X32 Red Donut ACOG (planning to change to 1-4 power Nightforce)
SIG side folder
AAC flash hider (waiting for can approval)
Overall
Side folder
ACOG
Flashider

I thought it had to be visible during normal use of the weapon. I'd be happy to conceal it with the handguards though.
I've also heard different stories about you have to put your name since you're the one who "manufactured" the weapon by altering it. This was a great deterrent to SBR'ing but did it anyway. I hope to get my paperwork back in Feb so I can finish.
Gun looks great!

Well AndyB's question caused me to question what I had been told, so..........back to the engraver. When I get it back I will have the barrel and upper receiver engraved. I am putting first and last name, as well as city and state. Kinda like "Sig Sauer/ Exeter, NH".
Also Wes1 that shorty with the factory side folder is F*%*ING AWSOME!!!!! I will post some new pictures as soon as I figure out what I want to do about front sight and handgaurd.

I also spoke with ATF about the engraving and they told me the same thing about the barrel. You can engrave the barrel but you MUST include the serial number with the engraving. The man at the NFA branch even recommended I go that route incase I ever choose to sell the firearm, its easier to just replace the barrel (we were talking about an AR).

It has nothing to do with luck. No 556's available in Canada, just these. Looking for the 'shorty' to complete the set. bought the 551 in November $2800 and the 550 in Dec, price jumped to $3500, Last 550 I saw was 'On Sale" for $3800

ratpatrol, might be able to strap them to a weather balloon and hope the wind blows the right way. Isn't the importation ban all semantics? One of these is restricted, only good for range use, the other, non-restricted, oh what a difference an inch makes.

This has got to be the worst rifle I've ever seen.
I will be more than happy to take it off your hands for a minimal fee.

skypup, thanks for the offer of taking that 'ugly' thing off my hands. I was thinking about letting the long one go as I don't like the black furniture. who wants a 'black rifle' anyway.

LebbenB wrote: Not to answer for GySgt, but the Hensoldt is a German scope. It's 4x and was used with the G3.
Now my question: Where did you get that mount? It's kick-ass! I'm particularly impressed at the leaf that comes up and protects the windage knob while still allowing the operator to adjust it.
Any plans to add a cheek riser? It might be the angle in the photo, but the scope looks like it's sitting pretty high above the bore.
I need to check back here more often...
The mount is a German-manufactured one, commonly referred to by the optic system that it came from, the BLITS. CDNN had them for quite a while, but curiously sold out after I started posting pics all over the interweb of one on my FAL
Both the mount and the attached Hensoldt ZF24 are currently for sale, but I dunno what the rules are for such around here, so won't post a link.
Yes, it is mounted quite high. That is due to a certain handicap of mine; can't see out of my right eye while being right handed. So, when speed matters, I shoot right handed/left eyed, therefore necessitating that I put it up on a riser.
ETA> I've already swapped it out and put my older Reflex on it, as well as adding some irons.

The scope is 4-16x Centerpoint, one weekend at the range a good friend
told me to look through his scope he had mounted on his Rem 700.
(so I did) I'm thinking to my self,( man this is a nice scope.)
Then he asks me,"how much do you think I payed for this scope?"
Before I could guess he said $70.00, "I said Where?" he replied
"Walmart." Before you laugh, this scope was previously mounted on my
Dpms LR308 for about 600rds with no issues, on and off it repeats and
holds zero.
Maybe I have been just lucky so far, so I figure if it worked with my 308
then it should work with my Sig556.
