THAT was my 3rd attempt to post my pic.... Somebody throw me a bone here. WHERE, exactly, in the window, am I to post the URL, and does it need to include the [brackets] or what?
Advice greatly appreciated.
David.

Just click the Img button, paste the URL and click the Img button again. It puts the img tags at the begining and end of the pic's URL for you.

That's a home-assembled IR laser for use with an NVD. I posted the how-to in the "lights and lasers" forum, FWIW. Ignore the ignorant crap spewed by a certain someone, though. There is an ex-army guy that trolls all my threads...

Just when I was about to give in and get a set of green 551 furniture, I broke down and decided to "give paint a chance" (sing along now!)
Out of prudence, I got a can of OD, tan and black. No suitable brown, but then, I'm only going to to the plastics in green, right?!
Well, the plan was to put a base of tan, then green, that way I could get an interesting finish once wear would start. But after the tan was applied, I thought I'd just stripe some green. Showed the result to the wife, and she said I should do the whole thing. The whole thing?.... hmmm
4 hours later... The flash really makes it look a lot lighter than it seems to be, but I won't be able to tell for sure until tomorrow in the light of day.
and the future gunner

Questions for you guys: How well does the paint hold up, especially on the plastic parts? Does it scratch off easily? Usually you have to lightly sand any metal you're going to paint so the paint will bond better. I'm sure you guys didn't sand your rifles so do you think the spray paint finish will last long or possibly start to chip or come off?

I fully expect it to chip off here and there, especially on smooth metal surfaces like the barrel. In any case, this was more of a test to see if I like it. For a durable finish, I would send it out to a professional. People make it sound easy, but I think it takes a certain skill to do it. I don't have it!
As has been said before, the beauty of cammo paint is that it's just a couple of cans away from being like new.

Looks pretty good elnonio!
If you just used Krylon rattle cans, it's not gonna crack off. It will wear off where you hold it the most. It just looks cool though. Here's mine, maybe to give you some idea's or just to show off!

My first Sig rifle, added the Burris AR-332 and a bayonet lug.
The bolt carrier after about 600 rds. Note the deformation just outside the lower left of the piston hole, nothing else of note. Sorry bout the clarity, I don't have a macro lens.
As for the Burris, the only time I had it out it is dialed in at 100 yrds, first 8 shots were spot on, after that I stunk. The green reticle was a washout with all the snow, and only the red at highest setting was usable, but the default black worked.
