The world needs more options for long arms that aren't ARs. Don't misunderstand me, the AR is a fine rifle and I own a couple, but it also doesn't need to be the ONLY rifle. Whether they succeed or fail, whether it's terrible or great, I applaud any major company that releases something that at least gives customers another platform to evaluate and choose from. Innovation is a good thing.

As for the MCX itself I'm going to withhold judgement until I get an opportunity to shoot it and until enough of them get out there that we begin to hear what the reliability and general level of craftsmanship is like. Given the turn that SIG USA has taken in the last 5 years I'm not optimistic, but I am hopeful.

I read a poster that says the MCX upper will not work with AR lowers because the MCX receiver is taller to accommodate the recoil spring and op rod.
These parts are not captured in the rear so they can come out over the rear of the lower.
Can anyone confirm this?
1) auto regulating gas valve: FAIL
2) works with AR lowers: TBD

Got my MCX .300 Blk last week, haven't been to range yet. Sig was cooperative in exchanging the MCX out for my 556XI that I had returned more than once for a variety of problems. Installed Geissele GS2 trigger model #05-145. Have Sig CP4 to install when I get time.
Will provide range report when I return. Does anyone have a lead on an aftermarket Grip for the MCX? I can't seem to find one and my Manticore from the old XI won't fit without modification. If you have any leads, please advise. Much Thanks. Every days a Holiday, Every meals a Feast, Every Payday is a fortune.

is the MCX lower supposed to use all AR parts?
It has nothing to do with the 55X line
It should take an AR grip

Rec'd the MP MIAD grip, Sig CP4 optic and generic bipod. Installed Geissele trigger. Once I clean the MCX and install accessories I'll post pics followed by range report after returning. Sig CS went out of their way to exchange my 556XI for the MCX in .300 Blk due to a variety of problems with the XI. My faith has been restored! Thank you SS!!

1/31/16 Range report, in brief. Took new MCX (.300 Blk.) to local range. Shot @ 25 and 50 yds using Sig CP4 Optic with both sand bags and bipod. Shot straight as an arrow, no difficulties whatsoever. Shot 100 rds Fiocchi 150gr FMJBT. Smooth as butter. Nice groups once I got used to and zero'd the CP4. For my current purposes, I don't need to spend 500-1000 bucks on an optic. The Geissele GS2 (#05-145) was just what the Dr. ordered. My buddy brought his Daniel Defense (556) and although, to me, it shot and felt "ok", (he ia happy with his factory trigger), I thought the GS2 replacement was worth every penny spent.
Thanks again to SS for the uncompromising CS with my particular unfortunate 556xi experience(s), and accommodating the swap out for me. SS went OUT OF THEIR WAY to do the right thing by me.
